OLD BUSINESS
****** NEXT MEETING JUNE 1***NEXT CRUISE JUNE 5TH
Saturday, May 8th was our 2010 Annual All Mopar Car Show held at Lake Town in Kenner by the Treasure Chest Casino at point. Day started out under rather windy, cloudy skies, but after cool front moved through, the weather turned out beautiful in the afternoon. Clear blue skies with a nice breeze blowing in from the lake. We started the day with 79 cars pre-registered and wound up with 120 cars for the day. We had cars from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. Fantastic turnout. We had a lot of beautiful MOPARS that were new to the show. It’s always nice to see new rides. We had plenty of BEMA members who volunteered to jump in and help out. We had several members who pulled their cars from judging due to the large number of out of town MOPARS that showed up. Congrats to those of you that did. That gesture ensured we had enough awards to pass around. The down side of that is that we only had 15 sponsor plaques that were hustled by our members. 15! From a club this size. To put in a perspective that we can relate to, the Southern Mopar club in Mobile has 15 members and they hand out as many as 100 sponsor plaques! What a shame. Moving on to some other positive items. Mr. Norm was a HUGE success. We were blessed to have him at our show. Sales were very brisk at his tent all day and he took the time to autograph any and all items that were presented to him. Hell, I even had him autograph the 1:18 Mr. Norm car I bought from him and then he signed my car under the hood. Very, very nice gesture on his part. Mr. Norm also picked out 3 very deserving cars and presented them with various awards. He was so impressed by our show, the people he interacted with and the food he ate, that he wants to come back next year! His presence was due largely to the efforts of Scott Cedor. We all owe Scott a big THANK YOU! Ms. Carolyn also had the very best day she EVER had! She ran out of food and sent Boogie out to buy more so she could feed the masses. Nice problem to have. Rob with MCG also had a terrific day selling subscriptions to MCG. The best day he’s had outside of Mopar Nationals. Congrats to both. Judging took about 2 ½ hrs to complete due to large number of cars. Then, tabulating the results took a little longer than usual. We didn’t have our master judge to work with the other judges because he was too busy with Mr. Norm. Baptism under fire as they say. Here’s a breakdown of the days take. Our 50/50 was $1,514 with $757 going to winner and other half to club. At our registration table we had 40 drive ups. We took in $1,125 dollars. From the bake sale at 50/50 table, we took in $50. T-shirt sales totaled $250.00 We had a grand total of 13 members that renewed their dues and 3 new members for a total of $480.00 Usually the car show is when we have a HUGE number of club dues paid but not this year. It appears our club will be down sizing this year just like everything else in our community. We paid the levee board cop $210.00, Ms. Carolyn $175.00 for food and Connie $175.00 for music. We incurred another $659.00 in various expenses (hotel rooms, 50/50 tickets, etc), and our ad in MCG cost us $500.00. In total, after all expenses were added up and deducted from our gross, we made about $1,900.00. Our next expense will be a donation to Children’s Hospital.

Our MAY cruise was May 1st under very serious cloud coverage with threat of rain. Mopar Gods smiled down on us and it NEVER rained. It was windy as hell though! We had about 70 cars according to our resident car parker, Al. A good turnout considering the weather and Jazz Fest weekend. . Camaro Firebird club were out in force again. Thanks guys. We had our usual great door prizes, great food and music. Jeff has added XM radio back. Our 50/50 was $264 to the winner and $264 to club. Thanks goes out to Scott & Al for selling our 50/50 tickets. Paul gave out 2 Peoples Choice awards. One went to 1972 Dodge Charger survivor and the other to a Convertible Corvette. Seems every month we see new cars that we have not seen before. Just wish they would come every month. We also need our MOPAR members to come out every month. Of course, the weather has not cooperated with us the past 2 months so maybe that has contributed to lack of members attending. Those BEMA members who attended cruise were: DAVE GAUTHIER, JACK COLLINS , KRUZIN CONNIE & AL ADAMS, JACK COLLINS, SCOTT CEDOR, PAUL REYNOLDS III (without CPA), BRIAN & DENISE LONG, DARRIN & STEPHANIE FRISELLA, DENNIS DUNKIN, RONNIE CHAISSON, STAN BOURGEOIS, AL BERTHELOT, TONY & PAM SPIEHLER, JIM & BARBARA BOYLE, JULIE & GERARD BERTUCCI MICHAEL & TANIA SANDER, DANNY PERKINS, HOWARD REED, LANE HOLT, MIKE & PAM LEBLANC, WARREN & NELLIE BREAUX, STEVE GARDNER, RAY BORNIO, RON KELLER, CLIFF DUNN, MIKE ROBINETTE.
Annual club crawfish boil will be held Sunday, May 30th at usual spot in the Kenner Century Park located on Williams Blvd next to City Hall, at shelter#6. This is the 2nd largest shelter in back of park. We will obtain crawfish from Bobby’s Seafood as usual along with other goodies. We will arrive at shelter around 10am. We will pickup crawfish around 11am and then return to shelter. Deserts are welcome, EXCEPT chocolate deserts. They tend to melt. Any and all side dishes you want to bring will be welcome. CLUB DUES CAN BE RENEWED AT CRAWFISH BOIL!
The times Picayune will NOT carry any info concerning car show’s or cruise nights any longer. I contacted the paper & they informed me of the changes. Things like printing cost and PROFIT. So, it appears that our list of cruises in our newsletter is all that we will have. Print them out and post them. We will also have to pass out flyers at as many cruises that we can to promote our cruise night.

At our MAY meeting, we opened the floor for anyone else that might want to be nominated for any of the officer’s positions. No one else was nominated. Jack Collins made a motion to accept nominations that were on the docket for the evening as they are. The motion was seconded by Jim Boyle. Voting then was unanimous for candidates. For our 2010-2011 year, Paul Reynolds will once again serve as President, Ron Keller will serve as VP and some new blood will serve as Secretary/Treasurer, Stephanie Friesella. Ok gang, our Annual Mopar Car Show is RIGHT around the corner. We need ALL members to step up to the plate so we can hit a home run this year. We are off to a great start and need to continue the momentum into May. We’ve already had the usual members step up and now we need the rest on our membership to step up. Now, we are in the top of the ninth inning. Our big hitters have already come to the plate. Now we’re counting on our pinch hitters to come through for us. At this point a bunt single or even a squeeze bunt can bring a run home. So, let’s take our car show to the Championship. WE CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT!

****** NEXT MEETING MAY 4***THEN JUNE 1***NEXT CRUISE JUNE 5TH
Our May meeting was held May 4th at our usual location 2222 Clearview Parkway. Great turnout! Paul had a new member, Robert Dowell, introduce himself and talk a little about himself. He is actively seeking a 68-69 Bee, RR or R/T. He is retired and enjoying himself. Highlights of meeting included discussing our May Car Show that will be held this Saturday, May 8th & will be held at our usual location: The Point in Lake Town by Treasure Chest Casino! We have deleted the $1,000.00 cash drawing & will focus our attention on the 50/50. We will do 6 door prizes per hour. Julie Bertucci and Rob Goodwyne will have their cars on this years t-shirt for car show. We have deleted the Best Under Construction award. We raised the price of our “BEST OF†trophies from $75 to $100 and ALL are already sold. Class trophies are ALL sold out ($50 each). Now, we need to concentrate on sponsor awards ($35). IF, every member sold/bought 1 sponsor award, we would have PLENTY of awards for everybody. We also changed the $500 cash drawing back to $100 and will pull the winner from the 1st 50 pre-registered cars. We will also have a very special guest at this years car show: Mr. Norm from Mr. Norm’s Garage. Scott has secured Mr. Norm to attend our show. He will bring 2 of his new “Cuda creations. One is a hardtop and the other is a convertible. They will definitely be there. Mr. Norm will also hand out Mr. Norms’s Choice award at our car show. He will also have several items to give away so brush up on your Mr. Norm & Grand Spalding Dodge trivia. Rob Wolfe, with MCG, will also pick a MCG Choice. He will also choose a car from our show that will be featured in MCG magazine. He will also have several items to give away. At this point, we have 78 cars pre-registered. Keep the registrations coming. We even have a WINGED car registered already with the possibility of 2 more coming! We have a lot of members in this club and need EVERYBODY to do THEIR part! * **Reminder: We need everyone to purchase your drinks from the outside bar-both types. It will benefit the club. Jeff has promised us a percentage of outside sales to donate to club. Outside sales for May cruise were $200.00 so our portion was $20.00. Thanks Jeff.***Web site is still under construction. Not everything is working as it should. Paul found a young lady in Baton Rouge that is taking on the project. Looks pretty good so far. Now, if the pictures will start working, we‘ll be set pretty good!*** Big money winners from game were: SCOTT CEDOR $20; TONY SPIEHLER $60; ROXANN ASHWELL $10; CINDY RINCK $10. OLD BUSINESS
DENISE LONG won the ladies game, $50 gift certificate to Cheese Cake Bistro.
Details will be discussed at April meeting.

At our April meeting, nominations were held for officers for the new year. Voting will take place at our May meeting and the new officers will take over in June at our 1st meeting. Then our next meeting will be in August. We need someone to take over Secretary/Treasurer. I will not run again for next year. I want to take a break so start beating the bushes and let’s see who steps up.
Nominated for President: Paul Reynolds. Vice-President: Ron Keller. Secretary-treasurer: Stephanie Frisella.
Congrats to all & good luck for our new year.
